It's a day future college athletes will never forget. Signing Day. High school seniors across the country and in northwest Ohio, putting pen to paper and signing their National Letter of Intent. Whitmer high school had an incredible day with seven teammates from the football team signing to play in college. Five of them going to Division I schools, three to the Big 10. All-Ohio defensive end, Chris Wormley is headed to Michigan, defensive backs Mark Meyers and Leroy Alexander will attend Michigan State and Nebraska, respectively. "At Michigan State you've got a great academic program to help me with whatever I need," said Meyers. "You'e got a a chance to play in the Big 10. You've got to take advantage of that." Offensive lineman Storm Norton and running back Jody Webb will remain in Lucas county and play for the Toledo Rockets. At Southview high school, defensive back Allen Gant follows in his father's footsteps and signs with Michigan. Tony Gant was a defensive back for the Wolverines from 1982-'86. "I have a little bit of an advantage because I know he can help me out with anything," said Gant. "It's really good to be following in his footsteps." St. John's featured 15 student athletes who will continue their playing career's in college. Only a few received full scholarships from Division I programs. Among them, Kent Kern will play football for Miami, OH and Nate Pearson, football coach Doug Pearson's son, will play baseball at Toledo.
